Description of the waste collection system
Scope of municipal waste
Household waste Similar waste Other

Responsibility of collection: The municipality is responsible for collecting and transporting municipal waste from households and household-like wastes for treatment. Separate collection is partly taken care of by the municipality (bio-waste), and partly by producer responsibility (newspapers & magazines, paper packaging, plastic packaging, metal packaging, "white" glass, "green" glass and WEEE). PPW is collected at bring points. In addition, many landlords or housing associations organize in or adjacent to the property, with the collection of packaging made of glass, plastic, paper and metal, and newspapers (waste under producer responsibility). Property manager signs up with a waste contractor who in turn signs a contract with Packaging and Newspaper Collection (FTI), Pressreturs and / or Swedish Glass Recycling contractors. The collected packaging and newspaper waste is treated in the same manner as the waste submitted at the recycling stations. All collection of residual waste is handled by a contracted entrepreneur. [Source: 1] Biowaste (food waste) collection is co-mingled with mixed residual waste collection. Bio-waste collection is voluntary but free of charge.
Implementation ongoing for: Metal

Fee system
Pay-as-you-throw: Yes
Description of the fee system: All costs for the muncipal waste collection system are covered by a waste fee that is paid by the property owner (collection of bio-waste and mixed waste). Fees related to collection of packaging materials (by the PROs) are included in product prices. Fee is dependent of frequency of collection. And thus consumers may affect their waste fee by sorting bio-waste and packaging waste.
